Campus comes of age with NG Bailey
The mechanical and electrical fit out of the multi-million pound re-development of West Kent College’s Campus 21 has been awarded to leading building services provider NG Bailey.
Construction works are already well underway at Campus 21, one of the largest projects of its kind in the education sector. Working with consultant DSSR, architect Dyer and main contractor Galliford Try, NG Bailey will design, install and commission all mechanical and electrical services, with its ICT arm delivering the structured cabling. The project is worth a total of £10m to NG Bailey.
The focal point of the new buildings will be an open courtyard, which joins the buildings to create three ‘learning steps’ housing centres for different activities. It is planned that students and staff will move into the first completed phase in the Spring of 2010. Campus 21 is due for final completion in late summer 2011 and will give students in the region of 23,000 sq. m. of purpose-built facilities, including a new training restaurant and food halls, performing arts and art & design facilities and a cutting-edge learning resources centre.
