London Victoria Station was one of the last London termini to retain an electro-mechanical rotating flap panel departure board and in August 2004, Bailey Rail was awarded the contract to replace the existing system with a new LED multiple panel installation supplied by manufacturer Infotec.
Bailey Rail’s was appointed by Atos Origin, working for ultimate client, Network Rail to replace the existing electro-mechanical rotating flap-panel departure board with an LED Customer Information System [CIS] operating Atos Origin software. The LED panels were supplied by Infotec, with whom Bailey Rail has a long and close working association.
In total 48 panels were replaced by Bailey Rail over a total 4 week period. Each panel was 3 metres high and 1 metre wide and weighed 180 kg. They were lifted by mobile crane to a height of 8 metres for installation at night during engineering hours. New data cabling was also installed as an integral part of the project. The negotiated contract followed an initial feasibility and pricing study completed during early 2004.
Bailey Rail undertook the role of Principal Contractor for the purposes of CDM and was subcontracted to Atos Origin for the project implementation.
